Redact a pay stub before sharing it

Landlords and lenders use pay stubs to check income. They do not need your Social Security number, direct deposit account or employee ID. Re-Doc finds those details on the stub and removes them, and leaves gross pay, net pay and the pay period readable.

Example

What Re-Doc changes

Orange boxes are what Re-Doc finds on its own. Text-based files keep their layout, and each real value is swapped for a realistic synthetic one.

Checklist

What to remove, and what to keep

Usually removed

  • SSN, even partial: some stubs print the last four digits
  • Direct deposit account: bank and account numbers
  • Employee ID: internal payroll identifiers
  • Home address: when the requester does not need it

Usually kept

  • Gross and net pay
  • Pay period and pay date
  • Year-to-date totals
Tip

If the stub is needed to prove income, keep your real name. Use an instruction like "keep my name, remove IDs and bank details".

How it works

Frequently asked questions

01What should I redact on a pay stub?
Commonly the SSN, bank or deposit account, employee ID and sometimes the home address. Keep what the requester asks for, usually your name, employer and pay figures.
02Can I keep my name?
Yes. Say so in a custom instruction before you start, for example "keep my name".
03Does it work on screenshots of a payroll portal?
Yes. Images such as PNG or JPG are read with OCR and redacted with black boxes.
04How much does it cost?
The first 10 pages are free after signing in with Google. Plans start at $11 a month for 500 pages.
